I was attending church some time ago, as a courtesy to my father. As the congregation started to say the Lord's Prayer; which I, of course, did not, a thought occurred to me. Why does humanity insist upon praying for things to be changed? If there is no God, then it's rather pointless, one would think. Contrariwise, if there is a God, then what could He do for them? Strength comes from within, not because someone has blessed you with it. If things must change, then people shouldn't merely ask for them. They should do something about it.
You play in a dangerous area, to question religious beliefs. I surely hold you in no reproach, but other people hold as fast to them as if it were their last bread and water, instead of a building and a man in a robe. Who is to say such prayer cannot awaken in a man such inner strength or courage necessary to make the changes we wish to see? Every person, after all, has a different thing which spurs them to action, and it seems unwise to dismiss any one. It is, after all the people, the people who believe in this thing you dismiss, that we wish to deliver, and wish to raise to save themselves.
I am in complete agreement! The entire rigamarole is most pointless. Simply a way people have found to convince themselves that everything is not their fault, and there is someone higher to blame.
There is none, not that we are particularly high ourselves.
